MESA, ARIZONA (March 29, 2026) – A motorcyclist tragically died in a Mesa truck accident near the area of Greenfield Road and Desert Lane, not far from Baseline Road.

Mesa police officials are saying that the accident took place around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. A motorcycle was traveling down the road when they were involved in a collision with a truck.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident to help the injured victim. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Despite life-saving measures at the hospital, the motorcyclist died from their injuries. The victim’s name has not been released at this time.

Authorities are still working to determine what may have contributed to the crash.

Liability for Mesa Truck Accidents

Every driver in Arizona must use caution to avoid colliding with other vehicles. Truck drivers must be particularly cautious, given the inherent risks associated with larger vehicles. Many accidents involve truck drivers that make dangerous left turns. According to Arizona Vehicle Code 28-772, “The driver of a vehicle within an intersection intending to turn to the left shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle that is approaching from the opposite direction and that is within the intersection or so close to the intersection as to constitute an immediate hazard.” Many different factors could contribute to any truck accident.

  • Speed: A number of accidents involved truck drivers that are traveling at an unsafe speed.
  • Blind Spots: Trucks tend to have large blind spots that can easily obscure the presence of motorcycles and other smaller vehicles.
  • Fatigue: It has been estimated that fatigue can impair a person’s ability to operate a vehicle safely equal to driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.05%.
  • Visibility: Many car accidents tend to happen in the early morning and late evening hours when visibility is reduced.

If a truck driver fails to slow down to avoid colliding with another vehicle, this could serve as evidence of negligence. Liability for any truck accident could extend to several parties. This includes the company responsible for operating a commercial truck. Companies will typically be liable for the negligent conduct of their workers who were operating within the course and scope of their job duties. A city can also potentially be liable for a car accident if it was caused by a dangerous condition on public property.

Steps to Take After Mesa Truck Accidents

Motorcyclists lack the protection of enclosed vehicles and are more likely to be overlooked by other drivers. According to the National Safety Council, “Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles and 0.6% of all vehicle miles traveled in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 15.5% of all traffic fatalities and 3.4% of all injuries in 2023. A factor that directly influences motorcycle fatality trends is helmet use.” Multiple steps should be taken after any Mesa truck accident.

  • Any person who may have more information about what happened should be interviewed early on while their memories are still fresh.
  • Most traffic intersections are covered by surveillance cameras. Any video footage that may have captured the crash should be sought.
  • It should be determined if any truck driver involved in the crash was working when it took place.
  • The family of any person who died should seek an independent review by a team experienced in accident reconstruction and tort claims.

Truck accidents are often highly preventable. They tend to include situations where truck drivers are not properly scanning the road ahead of them, particularly at intersections. Unfortunately, truck drivers and their insurance providers will almost never accept responsibility if they cause an accident. This is why it’s so important that these incidents are thoroughly investigated by an outside party. The family of any person who died in a truck accident is able to seek some measure of accountability and justice with a civil claim.
