I don’t know the answer to that question, which is why I am doing a survey to try to find out!
I am hoping that you, dear reader of Indisputably, might be able to help. Are you a judge, prosecutor or public defender? If yes, please fill out the survey. If not, do you know anyone who is a judge, prosecutor or public defender? If yes, please send them a link to this blog post and ask them to please fill out the survey. My hope is to reach a wonderfully wide and national cross section of professionals.
Here is my plea and link to the survey:
I am a law professor at Texas A&M University School of Law. Before teaching, I practiced criminal law. I have been concerned about what is happening in our criminal legal system since the pandemic hit. There is only spotty news coverage. I thought it would be both interesting and valuable to do a survey of the professionals in our criminal legal system, the judges, prosecutors, and defense lawyers, to find out what is happening in their courts and with their cases as a result of the pandemic. What has changed? What has stayed the same?
If you are a judge, prosecutor or criminal defense lawyer, I would very much appreciate it if you could take the time to fill out this survey.
I would also appreciate it if you could forward this survey to EVERYONE you know who is a judge, prosecutor, and/or criminal defense lawyer (all of them!). And, please ask them to forward it along to anyone and everyone they know who is a judge, prosecutor, or defense lawyer.
Depending on how detailed a response people want to give, it should take 15-25 minutes to complete (and it is totally ok to choose to give short answers only!). The link is: https://tamu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8erffZC5L92Gf77
The survey responses are entirely anonymous. I will not know if you have answered and your name will not be attached, in any way, to your answers. Because it is anonymous, you can forward the link to anyone and everyone who you know who is a professional in our criminal legal system and ask them to fill it out. It is not tied to any email addresses or other personal identifying information.
I am happy to answer any questions. My email address is below.

Thank you so much!
